farm-link

Welcome to Crop Watch. For the 2004/2005 season, Syngenta has again teamed up with farm-link to provide a week-by-week photographic record and commentary on cereal crops, grown specifically by two of Northern Ireland's most proficient arable farmers.

The barley featured is the Syngenta hybrid variety Colossus. Already breaking yield records in Northern Ireland, this year's crop was sown out in late-October by Hillsborough-based farmer Clive Weir. Given the increasing demand for hybrid barleys, this year's Crop Watch feature will be of particular interest to every arable producer.

The winter wheat is a crop of Consort on the Moira farm of David Jordan. The crop - a first wheat - was planted out in early November, so growers with later sown wheats will have an excellent opportunity to compare and contrast the progress being made by their own crops
