MF 8600 Tractor of Year makes its UK working debut
Massey Ferguson’s outstanding MF 8600 Series flagship tractors will be making their UK working debut at Cereals. This top technology series is available in two levels of specification - the MF 8600 and the MF 8600 ‘Excellence’ models.
Standard versions of the MF 8650, MF 8660, MF 8670 and MF 8680 are powered by the renowned Stage 3/Tier 3 AGCO SISU POWER 8.4 litre engines, equipped with common rail, four valves/cylinder and Electronic Engine Management control. These models feature new four-point OptiRide cab suspension, Datatronic 4 Control Centre Display (including video input and ISOBus compatibility) and new Dyna-VT transmission with Dyna-TM control.
MF 8600 Excellence models are equipped with the latest technology as standard, along with the most advanced AGCO Sisu Power Citius e3, SCR engines. These combine at least a 5% saving in fuel and the cleanest exhaust emissions, with significantly reduced NOx and Particulate Matter (PM) levels compared with other designs.
Other class-leading features include 5,000kg capacity Integrated Front Linkage System (IFLS), SpeedSteer and the OptiRide Plus Dynamic cab suspension, which took a top Gold Medal at the SIMA, Paris Show. They are also supplied Auto-Guide ready as well as having climate control air conditioning.
Auto-Guide for more MF 6400 and MF 7400 tractors
Massey Ferguson is now introducing Auto-Guide automatic steering as a factory-fit option to all six-cylinder models in the MF 6400 Series and MF 7400 Series. Employing the accuracy offered by Auto-Guide is proven to help operators to increase output, save fuel and improve precision.

Versatile MF 5480 is ideal arable workhorse<
Powered by a 145hp, AGCO SISU POWER four-cylinder engine, the MF 5480 is fast establishing itself a reputation as a reliable and versatile arable workhorse that excels in a wide range of work. It also makes a powerful and efficient loader tractor.
A 10hp ‘boost’ increases power to 155hp in 3rd and 4th ranges and is available for transport or fast cultivation work. This superb power delivery combines with exceptional torques of 625Nm at 1,400rpm in normal work, which rises to 652Nm at boosted power.
“The MF 5480 is the perfect secondary tractor for cereals farmers,” says Mr Cox. “Most users associate a six-cylinder engine with this size and power of tractor. The four cylinder AGCO SISU POWER unit, however, provides the power and torque required for draft work but in a shorter, lighter tractor that is equally at home spraying, fertiliser spreading and other farm duties. Combined with the 10hp power boost for transport, this makes it an unrivalled arable tractor.”
Massey Ferguson’s acclaimed Dyna-4, semi-powershift transmission provides 16F/16R gears and completely clutchless operation after pulling away. The highly efficient mechanical gearbox combines economical operation with ease of use. The unique, standard left-hand ‘Power Control’ lever allows operators to ‘pulse’ through powershift steps and change gears, without using the clutch.
The same lever also provides clutchless direction changes, and with the Twin Flow 100 litre/min hydraulic option and other standard features the MF 5480 is also an unmatched loader.
Even higher performance from MF 6400 Series flagships
Massey Ferguson’s latest MF 6400 flagship models – the MF 6497 and MF 6499 - now offer even higher productivity to users of these powerful and highly versatile tractors.
Along with a new, modern family style and pivoting bonnet, the tractors also benefit from a new heavy-duty front axle. This is fitted to an innovative support, which also incorporates the weight frame or integrated front linkage option.
